A Bedtime Kiss From Heaven

Mommy dearest, Daddy too-
I have something that I need to tell you.
I know you're excited about having me
And you're awaiting my arrival most joyously.
But our time on earth is limited;
We have only certain days
In which to live our earthly lives
In so many detailed ways.

You know my time here had just started-
In fact, it barely had begun.
But now God's calling me to Him-
My battles are already done!
He wants me to be in Heaven with Him-
I don't know why.
Mommy, please,--I love you so,
And I don't want to make you cry.

But I have to tell you that I've gone
From this life to another.
Please don't make this hard for me.
You have to tell my sisters and my brothers
That I love them dearly, Daddy too.
I love you all—I really do!

But I'm up here now today with God
And all those who've gone before
Marked with the holy sign of faith.
Could I really want for more?
Yes, one thing more: your comforting,
Which I know that God will do.
Mom, it's time for bed.
I must say, "Goodnight."-
And here's a bedtime kiss for you.
